Pakistani telcos are allegedly evading Rs. 400 billion in taxes annually, revealed Justice (R) Javed Iqbal, Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
According to a statement issued on Monday, he called for improvement in the tax collection system of Federal Board of Revenue (FBR).
The potential tax is apparently not being collected and deposited in the national kitty by the Pakistani telcos. Due to tax evasion, Pakistan is losing a large sum of money that could’ve helped its economy and the overall industry as well.
The NAB Chief said; “Pakistan is investors-friendly country and the best country for foreign investment and we should try utmost for collecting taxes for protecting our national interests as per the law.”
He also informed that NAB has seven regional bureaus in the country each headed by director generals who have been directed to resolve the complaints of the citizens regarding corruption according to the law of Pakistan.
He also revealed that stringent actions would be taken against any NAB official who would try to harras anyone or try to call them after the inquiry is over.
