Pakistanis Likely to Watch Raees in Cinema, Others to Follow

Indian films likely to show in Pakistani Cinema

Indian Movies Raees and Kaabil are likely to be released in cinemas this week in Pakistan. Four months after the ban was imposed on Indian movies across Pakistan, cinemas will once again screen the films from across the border.

The Express Tribune reports that the PM’s Secretariat is likely to allow the release of Indian movies in the country and a notification will soon be issued in this regard.

The ban on Indian movies came into effect after Bollywood producers banned Pakistani artists from working in Indian films amid border tensions. The artists from Pakistan were directly hit by the right wing party in India who voiced threats against anyone who’ll employ them.

This news has come as the new Mahira Khan starer Raees is all set to launch in Indian cinema. The film also includes Shahrukh Khan as the leading actor and has already made waves with its hit songs. Pakistanis are also eager to watch this new film as it stars one of our local artists.

The suspension of Indian films has been demanded by the cinema owners as it created financial constraints for them. Looking at this situation, PM Nawaz Sharif constituted a committee last week where all stakeholders were given representations. The committee recommended to the PM that old policy before the ban on Indian films should be reinstated.

The Hrithik Roshan starer Kabil is also likely to make its way to the Pakistani screens. Previously, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil and Dear Zindagi including Pakistani artists, have been released which didn’t screen in the country but luckily many would be able to see Mahira Khan on the big screen.
