Youth in Pakistan has been searching for a unique platform for ample opportunities for decades. Despite the recent innovative scientific advancements in the world, Pakistan still finds itself lagging behind many nations when it comes to technology and entrepreneurship. To fill this vacuum, Plan9 celebrated the Independence Day by gifting a platform to the young generation and celebrating the growing startup infrastructure in Pakistan and the success of local entrepreneurs who have contributed to the growth of the industry.
An event was held on Friday for the same purpose by Plan9 to celebrate the Independence Day by celebrating the growing startup infrastructure in Pakistan and the success of local entrepreneurs who have contributed to the growth of the industry.
The event, named ‘Pakistani Startups Making Waves’ was powered by ATX+PAK Launch Entrepreneurship Program and was attended by renowned and esteemed individuals; Suneel Munj representing Pakwheels.com, Husnain Sheikh Chairman & CEO inov8, Monis Rahman, Chairman ‘Naseeb Networks’ representing rozee.pk, Qasif Shahid from Finja and Imran Ali Khan, Co-founder Zameen.com.
The panelists gave the audience an insight on their entrepreneurial journey and how strategically they moved to raise funding for their early initiatives. The panel was moderated by Nabeel A. Qadeer, Director Entrepreneurship and Enterprise Development, PITB.
“Your future is bright, as international investors are looking to invest in Pakistan. You are in the right place at the right time.” Said Monis Rahman, Chairman Naseeb Networks while addressing the startups in the audience.
Dr. Umar Saif, Chairman PITB commented that he was glad to see the power panel and as Pakistan has recently been producing exceptional startups, who have in turn been able to raise investment, such panel discussions by success stories would further motivate and inspire budding entrepreneurs.
Husnain Sheikh said “Inov8 was a failure till 2008. We persevered, you have to get through the tough times” “Unless you fail, I don’t think you can succeed. It’s how you reinvent yourself.”
Briefing about Fintech, Qasif Shahid said: “FinTech on phones will make online payments much more easier- FinTechs will come out on top.”
The alumni startups Patari, Car Butlers, Car Chabi, Wifigen, Transparent Hands, Mezaaj, Vivid Technologies and Affordable.pk also took the stage to give the audience a glance at how they started from scratch and where they are today.
