QoS Survey by PTA

According to the reliable sources of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), a survey has been launched to check the Quality of Service (QoS) of the cellular companies. In this regard, service quality of the companies will be checked in Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The sources have further revealed that this QoS survey is of utmost importance because aside from voice quality provided by the telecom operators, their Internet speed would also be tested in this comprehensive study. The results of this survey will be published on the website of the PTA in the coming days.

Previous QoS Survey

Back in April, PTA had conducted a similar QoS survey in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad. According to the previous survey, Zong provides the highest Internet speed (7.71 Mbps) in Pakistan, followed by Mobilink (5.04 Mbps). Sometimes, the SMS messages sent from Mobilink and Warid Telecom do not deliver on time whereas other networks are meeting the standards.

The last QoS survey had also revealed that the calls made from Mobilink and Ufone sometimes get disconnected, whereas other three telecom companies are meeting the standard. Regarding the signal quality, it was revealed that Zong and Mobilink are providing superior signals because they are using greater spectrum.

According to a report of Akamai Technologies (An American cloud services network), the average Internet speed in Pakistan is just 3.4Mbps whereas OpenSignal says that the average mobile Internet speed in Pakistan is 3.3 Mbps

PTA recently said that most of the Internet users in Pakistan are now adopting the 4G-LTE technologies. One-third of the total mobile Internet users upgraded their devices and networks to 4G technology in the month of August 2016.

Presently, Warid, Zong, and Telenor Pakistan are providing the 4G-LTE services in the country while Mobilink is reportedly upgrading its infrastructure to offer this technology to its customers.
