The Punjab Budget 2017-18 is finally here and we can see quite a few schemes reserved for the providing better opportunities to the youth of the province.
Dr. Ayesha Ghaus Pasha yesterday revealed that the provincial government has allocated Rs. 7 billion for the CM Punjab laptop scheme where more than 0.1 million laptops will be distributed among students on merit.
In the fifth and last budget of the sitting government, we can see a much-needed boost in regards to funds allocated for education, health, and youth programs. Previously the Punjab government reserved Rs. 9 billion for various youth schemes out of which Rs. 4 billion was allocated for the provision of laptops.
The CM Punjab Laptop Scheme has also been surrounded by controversy as students have to face a very long and complicated procedure to receive a free laptop. Earlier this year, educational institutes started minting money from students to provide bonafide student certificate required to claim the free gadget.
This year the Punjab Budget allocates Rs. 8.5 billion for sports activities, Rs. 3.5 billion for Orange Cab Scheme for unemployed and will also introduce Apna Rozgar Scheme where it will provide 50,000 cars.
Recently, the Federal government also reserved Rs. 20 billion for the for skill development, PM’s laptop scheme, and youth programs.
