Yes, the government is working on a mechanism to facilitate online voting, which may revolutionize our electoral process and make it more transparent, free and fair.
In this regards, Chief Secretary Punjab Capt. (r) Zahid Saeed and Secretary Election Commission held a meeting at Punjab civil secretariat to discuss the possibility of converting the current polling stations to an online Geo-tagging system that will enable the voter to cast the vote online.
Addressing the meeting, the Chief Secretary noted that the Punjab Government has made every possible arrangement to implement the new system in the province. In this regards, the provincial government will extend full cooperation to the Election Commission, to ensure free and fair elections. The meeting was attended by the high-ups of Punjab Government, including Secretary Election Commission, Babar Yaqoob Fateh Muhammad.
In the wake of recent calls for free and fair elections, the Punjab Government had discussed similar issues before as well. In this regards, voting and polling stations data has been made available online, which can be checked through SMS service or online portals.
