A few months after the introduction of new Olive Green uniform, Punjab Police is already fed up with the change. Owing to the much criticism, Chief Minister Shahbaz Shareef has approved to change the Police’s uniform once again.
For decades, Punjab Police flaunted their charcoal black uniform but it was changed earlier this year to give the department a much-needed upgrade.
This move backfired quickly as many officers didn’t approve the new uniform especially its Olive Green color. CM Punjab has asked for suggestions regarding how the new uniform should look like and what color should it be in.
Reportedly, the department is also mulling over bringing back the old uniform, saying that it commanded the respect and relay the feeling of safety and security among the citizens.
The department has already manufactured thousands of uniforms for its officers and now all the resources spent on this issue lay in waste.
In 2012, a proposal was submitted to change the uniform as the police officials find it hard to perform their duties while wearing black shirts during summer. Thus, bringing back the old uniform will raise many questions regarding the efficiency of the Punjab Police officers who made the decision to introduce the new uniform.
