Qualcomm, the international wireless telecommunications products and service provider, announced its newest chipset Snapdragon 835 back in November 2016.
The advanced chip will replace Qualcomm’s last flagship Snapdragon 821 and is expected to be included in several phones releasing this year. A certain date of release cannot be provided because the introduction of a new chip depends on the release of smartphones housing it, however, it can be said with some surety that it would hit the markets in the first half of 2017.
Since a lot of flagships phones by companies like Samsung, Sony and HTC are to be released it is unclear as to which phones will be using the chip but based on advertisements and statements by companies’ marketing personnel the Samsung Galaxy S8, Sony Xperia XZ Premium, OnePlus 4 and HTC 11 are among the phones that are rumored to include the new Snapdragon 835.
LG’s flagship LG G6 failed the race in getting an earlier shipment of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835, Forbes reported and since will be including the chip from the LG V30 onwards which will be released later on this year. The non-inclusion of the latest chip in LG G6 has sparked a debate about whether LG G6 or the LG V30 will be considered as the flagship phone for 2017.
Apart from a high performing chipset, the Snapdragon includes other specifications such as a high-speed modem too. The new modem will aid in getting LTE speeds as high as 1Gbps which means you will be able to download a data amount of 100 GB in about 13 minutes provided you have a data provider connecting you to a high-speed internet connection.
Other major features of the Snapdragon 835 include a 27% higher performance and Quick Charge feature which will be able to decrease charging times by 20%.
