Chinese smartphone giant Oppo has announced its new online-only sub-brand Realme that aims to provide affordable smartphone manufactured by none other than Oppo.
Realme sub-brand will be providing new budget devices in India to rival Xiaomi which is attracting the smartphone users with their affordable prices. The company will be unveiling its new smartphone Realme 1 on 15th May exclusively on Amazon India.
Looking at the company’s objectives, it will be offering the Realme sub-brand in India only and we are not sure if it plans to expand it in other countries at the moment. Oppo plans to create devices in between INR 10,000-20,000 and also plans to introduce premium devices in the future.
Previously we have seen Huawei build a strong sub-brand Honor which now doesn’t only cater to the online audience as people in Pakistan can get it from different mobile phone shops across the country.
Now, Honor is a brand that stands on its own in the affordable smartphone category and has stepped out of the shadow of Huawei to become a separate entity. Guess, we’ll have to wait and see if Oppo will strive to achieve the same greatness with its sub-brand.
