Punjab Safe Cities Authority has decided to monitor all the emergency calls placed at the Rescue 15 number to help out the callers in distress.
Reportedly, the Safe Cities Authority will monitor the call and based on the emergency will dispatch the nearby officers from the Dolphin Force or Pero Force (Police Response Unit) to help the caller.
A communication officer at the Safe Cities Authority will monitor the calls and communicate the address and information of the caller to the authorities via advanced wireless sets. The authorities owing to access to surveillance camera will also monitor the nearby surroundings on their monitors.
Rescue 15 emergency number has been present for ages but at the same time, our police force is notorious for never reaching the said location in time causing distress to the citizens. Through this new system, the calls and the response time would be monitored and in case the Dolphin or Pero Force don’t make it in given time, the report will be sent to the concern SP.
Punjab Safe Cities Project was announced in May 2016 and since thousands of cameras have been placed throughout the city to monitor any activity happening in Lahore. Time and again many people have raised the question whether thousands of cameras can keep us safe especially when at the time of Lahore Blast the nearby surveillance camera was not working.
Last year, the Punjab government also announced that six more cities will also be included in the Safe Cities Project including Multan, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Bahawalpur, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala.
