Samsung has not yet unveiled the highly anticipated Galaxy Note 8 but the rumors do not care for the timings and schedules as we already have the news regarding the phablet’s successor, Galaxy Note 9.
According to a new report released by KGI Securities regarding Samsung’s plans for 2018, the company will embed the fingerprint scanner under the display of Galaxy Note 9.
KGI Securities have always been in close contact with the supply chain of the smartphones thus it would be foolish to disregard their comments about the handset market.
With the release of Galaxy S8 and S8+, we saw that the South Korean tech giant couldn’t pull off in-display fingerprint sensor beneath the screen and thus we had to suffer because of its unfortunate position near the rear camera.
The upcoming Galaxy Note 8 will also boast a fingerprint scanner on the same position and it will stay there until after the launch of Galaxy S9 which will make its debut in 2018.
Samsung is not the only company that has been struggling with this technology. Recently, Vivo introduced a prototype where it has placed a fingerprint scanner beneath the screen but it’s not ready for commercial use yet. Apple, who is ditching its years old home button in iPhone 8 this year also hasn’t perfected in-display fingerprint sensor technology.
