Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ are now available in the international market after pre-ordering commenced. According to a Samsung insider, the company has already started working on a new flagship, the Galaxy S9. This a common practice for smartphone companies as they start working on a new phone when the latest flagship is not even in consumers’ hands.
Lasy year it was reported that Apple had started working on the iPhone 8 before the release of iPhone 7. It is reported that Samsung has been working on display panels for the Galaxy S9 since March which means it is already six months ahead of when it started manufacturing the Galaxy S8 last year.
It is believed that after the explosions caused by Note 7, Samsung’s development process has somehow become streamlined. The next flagships will come with the same screen size options of 5.8 inches and 6.2 inches but will include an upgraded processor replacing the latest Snapdragon 835.
It is reported that Samsung is now in talks with Qualcomm over the inclusion of Snapdragon 845 in the Galaxy S9. Just like this year, Galaxy S9 might become the first to house Qualcomm’s next flagship.
The Snapdragon 845 might not be different in terms of processing speed but rather work on improvements to make the existing chip more efficient. It will be 10% faster and consume 15% less power.
