As the dollar flies high in Pakistan and rupee further weakens, mobile phones in the local market have started to feel the heat.
Samsung becomes the first to pass on the burden to the end consumers. In the latest communication to the sellers and retailers, the company has increased the prices of its latest mid-range and flagship smartphones.
The newly introduced Galaxy Note 9 had a price tag of PKR 129,999 which has been changed to PKR 139,999, going up by Rs. 10,000
Galaxy J6+ which was available for PKR 29,499 is now priced at PKR 31,499, a PKR 2,000 increase.
Other mobile phones which have become pricier are Galaxy J4+, Galaxy J6 and Galaxy J4 where their prices have increased from PKR 23,499 to 24,999, 25,999 to 27,999 and 18,499 to 19,999 respectively.
Other phone sellers including Huawei and Honor haven’t decided to increase the prices of their phones. An official of the Honor told More News that the company does not want to increase the prices of its smartphones for at least a month.
