Just recently, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) arrested the famous Nat Geo girl Sharbat Gula from her residence in Peshawar. She was arrested on the charges of forgery of the Computerized National Identity Cards (CNICs).
Pakistani and Afghan ID cards were recovered from her possession. Now, according to the latest reports, Sharbat Gula will be deported from Pakistan after completing 15 days in prison and paying a penalty of Rs. 110,000.
A case was registered against Sharbat Bibi and three employees of NADRA. According to the lawyer of the green-eyed girl, the accused had served 11 days in prison since her arrest, and she will now serve the remaining four days to finish her sentence.
While talking to the CNN, the lawyer of the 40-year old Sharbat Gula said that the accused had paid the fine of $1,100.
Back in 1985, the picture of Sharbat Bibi was featured on the cover page of the National Geographic Magazine. A famous photographer McCurry captured the picture of her. She gained fame because of her green eyes.
Recently, a crackdown was also initiated against those possessing fake CNIC cards. According to an official of NADRA, around 91 million CNICs have been re-verified so far.
