When it comes to boasting about matters that doesn’t add value to the nation at all, there is no one better suitable for the job other than our beloved politicians. Need an example? Well, yesterday our Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif boldly announced that after his friends insisted that he names the new hospital at Muzaffargarh after himself rather than naming it Recep Tayyip Erdogan Hospital, but he stood his ground.

Shehbaz Sharif said the friends were of the view that although Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan had provided the initial support, but the Punjab government worked to provide resources for 100-bed to 500-bed hospital. Which according to his “friends” is something so amazing that he should name the hospital after himself so the people would always remember, especially in the coming 2018 elections, that who actually made it all possible.

The real reason such news is a disappointing is because of our leader’s slightly shaky priorities. They need to announce to the world of their generousness and big heart, which is really a desperate move shouting” Please Like Me.” Our Punjab government no doubt sometimes get it right and does start some good initiatives like including Traffic safety education as a course or helping women through women’s safety mobile app. But most of the time it would waste our time with not so good ideas Motorbike Ambulance and Dolphin Force.

It’s not just limited to the Press Releases; our CM loves to advertise as whole Lahore is decorated as his team does marketing on steroids. Even if any stone is moved and especially if Shehbaz Sharif has moved it, trust me Lahore would know about it. What’s sad about this whole ordeal is that among all this, the actual goal of providing healthcare or any other service is ignored. In a battle to get credit for everything, they forget that this hospital is not for them but for the people.

Shehbaz Sharif further added:

“But I told the friends that we should not forget our patron and mentor. Although the Punjab government is providing resources for the hospital, the name of hospital will not be changed from Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who not only is the leader of Turkey, but also of Pakistan.”

The bewildering question after the issuance of this statement is that when did Recep Tayyip Erdogan became a leader of Pakistan? Every time Pakistan takes money from someone, our government gets the official machinery to spread that how the one lending us money is the best thing that ever happened to this country and how none of them have any other agenda besides watching us grow into a country that they always thought we were.
