Slide – Pakistan’s first lock screen app has announced that it has closed a series A funding round worth US $3.6 million. The round was led by a South Korean VC firm Songhyun Investment. Slide has raised a total of US $4.6 million to date.
The company hopes to strengthen its presence in the country by using these funds. Interestingly, the app was unveiled just a year ago, and it claims to have five million downloads already. This Pakistani app is now available in India as well, and it has the plan to expand to the Middle Eastern market.
Slide is an app that rewards the users for viewing their desired content. All you have to do is unlock your smartphone, read your favourite content and win points that would win you free mobile balance, discounts on the movie tickets and much more.
It works by connecting to your Facebook account, you can select the topics that you like to read, and that’s it. The app shows you the items related to the topics, which you select. Every time you read an article, you earn some points.
