Women Safety Smartphone Application aimed to battle harassment is set to be launched tomorrow. This mobile application will allow the women to notify and report to the Police Integrated Command, Control and Communication (PPIC3) officials about the harassment that they are being subjected to along with their exact location.
The project has been in works by Punjab Safe City Authority (PSCA) in collaboration with Punjab Service Commission on Status of Women (PCSW) to empower and safeguard women on the streets. The law enforcement agencies will dispatch a team of first responders on receiving any complaint/notification, who will arrive to handle the situation.
The mobile application allows women to report any experience that makes them feel unsafe in the public places. It is also said to have a panic button which will automatically redirect the emergency calls to 15 service. The initiative is aimed to empower women in Public and help them strive for success seamlessly in the country.
Last year, many other programs public and private were launched with the aim of women empowerment. Nighat Dad started her Cyber harassment hotline to help and educate women about the horrors of the cyber world. Such steps relay that how the new development in technology can help with the rising social issues in the country. With the mobile application’s launch tomorrow, it is yet to be seen how effective would it be in keeping the women secure in public spaces.
