Let’s all undisputedly agree to the fact that Qualcomm is hands down one of the best chipset manufacturers out there. Many flagships of this year feature the Snapdragon 845 which is the latest processor from the maker as of now. But, scores of Snapdragon 855 have emerged on GeekBench proving it to be even faster than the prevailing chip.
The new Snapdragon processor appeared with a codename “msmnile” on the famous benchmarking platform and has scored a massive 3697 in single-core test and 10,469 in multi-core test which is 24.6% faster than the Snapdragon 845, scoring 8401 in multi-core.
With such a huge score, this would be the fastest Snapdragon chip yet. The test device on which the chipset was placed features 6 GB of RAM and runs Android 9 Pie.
The multi-core score of the alleged Snapdragon 855 chip is on par with Apple’s A11 Bionic chipset, however, the single core score still lags behind the 4300 scores of A11.
Speaking of Apple, the Cupertino company has announced an event on September 12. The three new iPhones, including the rumored iPhone XS, are expected to be powered by the A12 Bionic which is pitched to perform even better than the A11.
The scores of Snapdragon 855 are very impressive, but it may not be the strong enough to stack up against the upcoming A12 Bionic.
It would be the first 7nm chipset from Qualcomm which will arrive to take on the Kirin 980 which was announced to debut with the Huawei Mate 20 series. A dedicated NPU will also be included in the Snapdragon 855 for intelligent allocation and management of the phone’s resources.
