Pak Suzuki has finally decided to discontinue the production of Mehran car which has been ruling the lower engine capacity segment for decades. What does Suzuki has to offer to replace the most favorite car of Pakistanis?
Earlier, the company has issued a letter to its suppliers stating that April 2019 will be the last month for the production of Suzuki Mehran. Although the company has not officially announced the successor, reports say that Suzuki Alto will be the new lowest price vehicle offering for the customers.
We are talking about the Japanese variant (660cc alto), not the 1000cc one which the company used to sell in Pakistan and discontinued it to introduce Wagon R.
The imported Japanese Alto is available in Pakistan in Rs. 13 lac approximately while it offers great design, comfort, and most of the modern features which are standard in international auto industries. Features include:
- ABS Breaks
- Dual Airbags
- Automatic Climate Control
- Powered and Retractable Mirrors
- Powered Windows
- Immobilizer Key
- Power Steering
The hatchback vehicle comes with semi-hybrid technology, Eco Idle mode, a traction control system and an optional driver heated system. Suzuki claims that the car provides 27 km/L consumption average within the city and almost 33 km/L average on a highway.
It’s very unfortunate that all car manufacturers introduce featureless vehicles in Pakistan. Suzuki Alto will come with a minimum of the features stated above, but who knows they surprise us with a nice package following the recent report provided by Competition Commission of Pakistan.
This car will occupy the space between Suzuki Cultus and Wagon R whose base variants are available in 11.4 lac and 13.4 lac respectively. It will be interesting to know the price in which the company launches Suzuki alto as it will be the critical point deciding the fate of this hatchback in Pakistani market since the inauguration of United Bravo.
