We are more than six months into 2019 and TCL, one of the largest TV manufacturers around the world is launching its first new model for the year in Pakistan named TCL P8S UHD Android TV. It is another addition in the company’s smart 4K TV range and is the direct replacement of last year’s TCL P6 UHD TV (Review).
The company witnessed over 24% year-on-year increase in its global business in the first five months of 2019 and is currently enjoys the number one spot when it comes to a smart TV in Pakistan. Overall, it stands at number two in UHD and total TV rankings in the country.
The Chinese multinational electronics company recently unveiled the new device for its users, so let’s breakdown its features to see what new the company is offering us this time.
Design & Display
It is nearly an all-screen TV with very minimum bezels at the sides and the top while there is a very small chin which boasts the TCL brand logo. The TCL P8S UHD Android TV is 4mm thick while the bezels at the front of the screen are only 0.4mm in width (except the chin).
Coming to the display, the TV comes with 3840 x 2160p screen resolution and HDR 10 support. It also has a Wide Color Gamut (WCG) and Micro Dimming features which further enhance the viewing experience for the user.
Hardware & Software
The TV features 2GB DDR RAM, 16GB of internal storage, HDMI 2.0 support, dedicated sports mode, and Chromecast. The television also has two built-in speakers with Dolby Audio and can easily connect with your Bluetooth speakers to further amplify the sound.
As the name indicates, the TV comes with Android as its operating system which is a major upgrade from P6 which comes with Linux OS. Being a smart Android TV, it has Google Play store for all your app-needs, Google games, and apps for different streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, etc.
TCL P8S UHD Android TV comes with Android Pie right out of the box and the company also promises future OS updates (including the Android Q) for users. Another interesting feature of the TV is none other than the working Google Assistant, which can be summoned via the remote.
It will be available in three sizes, 50 inches, 55 inches, and 65 inches, in Pakistan costing Rs. 96,900, Rs. 109,900 and Rs. 159,900 respectively
At the launch event, Majid Niazi, Marketing Manager TCL Pakistan expressed, “With the launch of P8S, TCL aims to continue its focus on providing products packed with the latest features as well as providing the best Smart TV experience. Products like our P8S series will allow us to strengthen our bond further with consumers who have already made us the leading Smart TV brand in Pakistan for the past 2 years.”
