Moving forward in the digital world, Telenor Pakistan becomes first telecom company to develop its own cloud network and has successfully tested the first 3G voice call and first LTE data call.
This new development makes Telenor the first telecom company in Pakistan to have an in-house Cloud Platform that can enable the digitization of all network functions.
The cellular company has successfully integrated VNF solutions using the telco cloud technology from Nokia which basically included Nokia’s AirFrame data center solution and OpenStack-based Nokia CloudBand software, and ZTE’s virtualized MSS and virtualized PGW functions.
The company’s technology division has been working on developing a cloud network for quite some time, a project that will help improve response time for the customer’s request and will also provide additional freedom in creating various solutions for the customers. It will also provide more revenue stream for the company via offering Cloud services to the public.
We have already seen the digital journey of Telenor where the company recognizes that the world is moving on from voice to data services and is thus working towards providing better digital solutions for instance EasyPaisa.
The development of in-house cloud network will also help the company to effectively work on its vision of bringing innovation and digitization to Pakistan. As we can recall, Telenor was the first mover of Internet of Things (IoT) in the country where it introduced various products like Companion Watch and Telenor Automate.
