Highest Screen to Body Ratio Phones

There is a growing enthusiasm around all-screen phones and bezels are becoming a thing of the past. Resultantly we’ve observed some impressively innovative smartphone designs.

Though the all screen craze started with the flagships but has increasingly crept in mid-range phones whereas even the budget phones are transitioning from the 16:9 to the more trendy 18:9 aspect ratio.

Owing to the excitement around this feature, we decided to compare all the smartphones in the market and bring you the devices with the highest screen to body ratio.

15. Huawei P20 Pro

Screen to Body Ratio: 82.2%

  • Screen Size: 6.18-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB/128GB/256GB, 6GB/8GB
  • Battery: 4000 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+5MP
  • Selfie Camera: 20MP

The triple camera was not the only innovation that Huawei made in P20 Pro. Huawei also set the gradient color trend for the first time with this device. The reason it is so low on the screen to body ratio is that it hosts a front facing fingerprint scanner which takes up ample of space on the chin.

According to the DxO Mark latest results, P20 Pro still retains on the top position. Even the latest iPhone XS Max couldn’t replace the camera king from Huawei.

Huawei’s latest addition in P series came as the first phone with a triple camera. Though Samsung quickly followed suit with Galaxy A7 2018, Huawei P20 Pro is arguably the best camera phone you can buy as of now.

14. Xiaomi Pocophone F1

Xiaomi Pocophone F1

Screen to Body Ratio: 82.2%

  • Screen Size: 6.18-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB/128GB/256GB, 6GB/8GB
  • Battery: 4000 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+5MP
  • Selfie Camera: 20MP

Xiaomi has caused massive ripples in the industry by packing flagship specs in its first phone F1 under the Pocophone series banner.

Other phones carry the same specs in double price. How has Xiaomi achieved such astonishing results? Well, the company obviously compromised on build material and tricks like wireless charging and has instead gone for the top-notch specs possible.

Such a low price makes the Pocophone F1 as one of the most desirable phones in the industry right now.

13. LG G7 ThinQ

LG G7 ThinQ

Screen to Body Ratio: 82.6%

  • Screen Size: 6.1-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB, 4GB/128GB, 6GB
  • Battery: 3000 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 16MP+16MP
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP

The all-screen design can also be witnessed in the new flagship from the South Korean company. The G7 packs a 6.1-inch display with a notch on the top that houses the earpiece, an 8 MP f/1.9 front camera, the proximity sensor, and ambient light sensor. It can also be hidden by enabling a black bar on the top in the notification area.

LG G7 ThinQ hosts a powerful QHD+ 1440 x 3120 IPS LCD. Although an OLED display would have been attracted more people, LG chose to stick with LCD panel only because of one reason, i.e., brightness. When set to Super Bright Display mode, the screen can get to 1000 nits and can stay that bright for a maximum of three minutes.

12. Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design

Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design

Screen to Body Ratio: 83.5%

  • Screen Size: 6.0-inches
  • Chipset: Kirin 970
  • Storage & RAM: 256GB/512, 6GB
  • Battery: 4000 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 40MP+20MP+8MP
  • Selfie Camera: 24MP

Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design is an amazing device that is way out of reach of most of the smartphone users thanks to its outrageous price tag of around $2000. The smartphone comes with an 83.5% which is higher than even most of the notched phones only because it hosts the fingerprint sensor on its back.

With nicely rounded sides and curved screen, Mate RS is a well-built device. Porsche Design was against the notched display from the beginning of their negotiations with Huawei where Christian Schwamkrug, the head of design at Porsche Design called the notch “disturbing, from a design philosophy.”

11. Asus Zenfone 5

Asus Zenfone 5

Screen to Body Ratio: 83.6%

  • Screen Size: 6.2-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB, 4GB/128GB, 6GB/256GB, 8GB
  • Battery: 3300 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+8MP
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP

Many of you may not have heard of Asus Zenfone 5, but those of us who have seen this device know that the smartphone offers a beautiful edge-to-edge display with almost side bezels and a minimal chin.

Asus Zenfone 5 was launched earlier this year whose notched design was inspired by none other than iPhone X (just like many new Android devices released this year). The device has thin bezels at the side and bottom while the top houses a notch which, though, doesn’t look specifically irritating, but is a matter of preference when choosing the device.

10. OnePlus 6

OnePlus 6

Screen to Body Ratio: 83.8%

  • Screen Size: 6.28-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB, 6GB or 128/256GB, 8GB
  • Battery: 3300 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 16MP+20MP
  • Selfie Camera: 16MP

OnePlus 6 is one of the most premium looking smartphone from the company that boats an all screen design bringing it into the league of the bigwigs like Samsung Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X.

The smartphone hosts the nefarious notch on the top of the display while its sides and bottom have small bezels which makes it a worthy addition in the list of smartphones with the highest screen to body ratio.

It ships with both glossy and matte finishes and provides more vertical space for the users to carry out different tasks on their smartphones.

The Chinese company has also teamed up with Marvel Studios to launch a Marvel Avengers: Infinity War Edition of the all-new OnePlus 6 besides the standard edition.

9. Oppo F9

Oppo f9

Screen to Body Ratio: 84.0%

  • Screen Size: 6.3-inches
  • Chipset: MediaTek MT6771 Helio P60
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB, 4GB/6GB
  • Battery: 3500 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 16MP+2MP
  • Selfie Camera: 25MP

Selfie camera has always been the selling pitch of Oppo’s smartphones but this time its the rear camera that received a huge upgrade in the OPPO F9. The device sports dual camera setup on its rear, in contrast with its predecessor, OPPO F7 which had a single back camera setup.

OPPO F9 also has a revamped notch size which is one of the major appeals of the phone making it much smaller and keeping it from being more annoying. The company calls it a waterdrop notch and has been the first to introduce this design.

8. Huawei Nova 3

Screen to Body Ratio: 84.2%

  • Screen Size: 6.3-inches
  • Chipset: HiSilicon Kirin 970
  • Storage & RAM: 128GB, 8GB
  • Battery: 3750 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 16MP+24MP
  • Selfie Camera: 24MP+2MP

Dubbed as the new OnePlus 6 killer, Huawei Nova 3 is all anyone can ask for. It shares not only the design language with the P20 Pro but also the internals as well and that too on a jaw-dropping price.

The device is powered by a flagship-grade processor Kirin 970 boosted by AI enhancement. The cameras on the phone are also AI enabled and can process the image accordingly with different scenarios.

7. Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus

Screen to Body Ratio: 84.2%

  • Screen Size: 6.5-inches
  • Chipset: Exynos 9810
  • Storage & RAM: 64/28/256GB, 8GB
  • Battery: 3500 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+12MP
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP

In the world of notched displays and similar looking smartphones, we cannot help to fall in love with the unique design developed by the Korean smartphone maker.

The smartphone has a small bezel at the top and bottom of the display but thanks to the beautiful curve, we hardly notice it on the device. The top bezels houses iris scanner, earpiece, proximity sensor, and a front camera.

While we are talking about Samsung Galaxy S9+, it would be a grave injustice to snub other flagship from Samsung which are following with their respective screen to body ratio.

  • Galaxy S9: 83.6%
  • Galaxy Note 8: 83.2%
  • Galaxy Note 9: 83.4%

smartphones which boast approximately 83.6% and 83.2% screen to body ratio respectively. Both of these devices also come with the Infinity Display and thus are one of the leading smartphones in the highest screen to body ratio list.

6. Honor 8X

Honor 8X

Screen to Body Ratio: 84.4%

  • Screen Size: 6.5-inches
  • Chipset: HiSilicon Kirin 710
  • Storage & RAM: 128GB, 4GB
  • Battery: 3750 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 20MP+2MP
  • Selfie Camera: 16MP

Big screens and bezel-less displays have been a hallmark of Honor lately. The company has successfully produced some of the most beautiful looking smartphones as well as performance packed devices such as the Honor Play.

Honor 8X is the latest offering, again in mid-range category, that houses Huawei’s all-new Kirin 710 processor. The company has genuinely put its back into the device and resultantly, has been able to produce a smartphone that has not only stunning looks but a decent performance too.

5. iPhone XS Max

iPhone XS Max screen to body ratio

Screen to Body Ratio: 84.4%

  • Screen Size: 6.5-inches

  • Storage & RAM: 64GB/256GB/512GB, 4GB
  • Battery: 3174 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+12MP
  • Selfie Camera: 7MP

The device that has caused quite a frenzy in the handset industry is none other than Apple’s latest high-end offerings iPhone XS Max.

The smartphone comes with an approximately 84.4% screen-to-body ratio with negligible bezels at the bottom and the sides of the display. The top features a notch that houses a microphone, sensors, speaker and a selfie camera.

Its display follows a gorgeous design with curved corners which makes it a worthy inclusion in the list of smartphones with the highest screen to body ratio.

4. Essential PH-1

Essential PH-1

Screen to Body Ratio: 84.9%

  • Screen Size: 5.71-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 835
  • Storage & RAM: 128GB, 4GB
  • Battery: 3040 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 13MP+13MP
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP

Despite being released in 2017, Essential PH-1 is still one of the leading phones in terms of the screen to body ratio. Contrary to the popular belief that Apple introduced the notch, actually PH-1 was the first phone that came up with the ingenious idea of inducing a notch in its display.

The smartphone was developed by Andy Rubin’s company who is also a co-creator of Android. Looking at the image, we can see that it packs very thin bezels on the sides and top of the screen whereas the bottom has a comparatively larger bezel than the one seen on today’s smartphones.

3. Vivo V11 Pro

Vivo V11 Pro

Screen to Body Ratio: 85.2%

  • Screen Size: 6.41-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 626
  • Storage & RAM: 64GB/128GB, 6GB
  • Battery: 3400 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+5MP
  • Selfie Camera: 25MP

The V11 pro comes as a flagship from the company with a major highlight being the in-display fingerprint scanner which is promptly responsive, as we checked in our hands-on experience at the launch event. Other than that, the phone packs some intriguing specs.

It comes as the successor to the Vivo V9. Though the phone sports a plastic body, it certainly doesn’t drag down its beauty as it is crafted and polished in a way to exhibit glass look.

2. Vivo Nex S

Vivo Nex

Screen to Body Ratio: 86.2%

  • Screen Size: 6.59-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 128/256GB, 8GB
  • Battery: 4000 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 12MP+5MP
  • Selfie Camera: 8MP

Second on our list of the highest screen to body ratio phones is the Vivo Nex S, world’s first phone to introduce a motorized front camera. Achieving bezel-less screen with the help of motorized selfie camera and ditching the notch makes it undoubtedly an unconventional package.

Vivo Nex S packs two technologies simultaneously that you won’t find on most cell phones today. The first one being the fingerprint scanner and the second one; the technology which resonates the whole screen of the phone to be used as a speaker.

1. Oppo Find X

OPPO Find X

Screen to Body Ratio: 87%

  • Screen Size: 6.42-inches
  • Chipset: Qualcomm Snapdragon 845
  • Storage & RAM: 128/256GB, 8GB
  • Battery: 3730 mAh
  • Primary Camera: 16MP+20MP
  • Selfie Camera: 25MP

Oppo took the idea of the pop-up camera and took it up a notch by inducing a more sophisticated and better looking motorized mechanism in the Oppo Find X.

Unlike the Vivo Nex S, where just the front camera pops up, the whole camera array is motorized housing both the front and the back camera. The upper section of the phone slides up whenever you need to use the camera, and it just takes 0.5 seconds.

It’s a great innovative idea to achieve such a unique and beautiful design in a smartphone, but we are skeptical about the working of the motorized tray only because before this, smartphones were constructed in a single unit with no motorized parts. Will it bear the wear and tear? We will see.
