ICC Champions Trophy 2017 final between India and Pakistan is just around the corner and amid the brewing tension, the TV ad rates have been increased.
India vs Pakistan is the sixth most watched sporting event where early on in the series 200 million people tuned in to see the two countries play. This time it is expected that the audience will increase by 30-40% and thus the TV ad rates have sky rocketed ahead of the final match.
Looking at this situation, TV channels are now demanding 10 times the normal price of any ad slot. Reportedly, Star Sports is charging INR 10 million ($155, 267) for a 30 second slot, where previously is highest rate was INR 1 million.
Most of the companies including, Nissan Motor, Intel Corp, Emirates, Oppo, MRF (Indian tyre company) have pre-booked the advertising slots on TV. The Chinese mobile phone brand, Oppo is also the global partner of the ICC Champions Trophy 2017.
Pakistan was one of lowest ranked team in the series which has shocked everyone by beating England at their home ground. Now once again it is face to face with its cricket rival India to win the title and expunge the memory of its horrible loss the last time the two countries faced each other.
Apparently only 10% advertising slots are left for companies buy sadly that means more annoying TVCs during the match. Luckily with PTCL Smart TV in Pakistan, you can just skip them to enjoy the action.
