Uber launches in Islamabad and rawalpindi

Uber has finally arrived in the twin cities. The company made the big announcement on their blog earlier today;

“We are thrilled to announce uberGO is now available in Islamabad, connecting Pakistan’s twin cities to safe, reliable, and affordable rides.”

Looks like Careem is not the only player in Islamabad and Rawalpindi anymore, as the newly entered Uber can start price wars in the mobile based cab service category.

This competition is evident from their new promotion where customers can ride fo free this weekend (from 12 pm Thursday, April 27th until 11:59 pm Sunday, April 30th). To avail this offer, they need to open their Uber mobile app and enter the promo code “UBERLOVESISB.”

With this promo code, customers can enjoy 5 free rides up to Rs. 250 each. The fares of the newly launched service are:

  • Base Price: Rs. 100
  • Minimum Fare: Rs. 120
  • Per KM: Rs. 6.84
  • Per Minute: Rs. 3

The company also revealed the affordable prices of several routes:

  • Marriott Hotel to Islamabad Airport – Rs. 230
  • Islamabad Heights to F-6 Markaz – Rs. 220
  • F-11 to Centaurus Mall – Rs. 190
  • Millat Colony to Faizabad – Rs. 185
  • Satellite Town to DHA Phase 1 – Rs. 255
