WhatsApp has been improving the integration of rich content for some time. The news of Business model and Group Call feature are not the only ones that the company has prepared for its messaging app.

WABetaInfo has revealed that Picture in Picture(PiP) mode is coming to WhatsApp for Android. Soon it will be easier to watch YouTube and Instagram videos on the most used social app if you use the Android operating system.

For a long time, iOS users are enjoying the Picture in Picture mode that allows them to watch YouTube and Instagram videos while maintaining their conversations on WhatsApp. Now, Mark Zuckerberg’s company is finally finalizing the implementation of the WhatsApp PIP for Android feature.

What is Picture in Picture (PIP) feature?

The PiP mode, or Image in Image, will allow you to watch YouTube and Instagram videos on WhatsApp, through a thumbnail preview that can be moved across the screen to continue having a conversation while watching the video in question.

By occupying only a portion, it will allow us to continue writing and reading messages, as well as changing chat and in short, using any of the WhatsApp options.

One can make the video smaller or bigger just by pinching on it. It will remain open while you have WhatsApp open and when you close the app, it will close the video.

At the moment WABetaInfo points out that the PiP function of WhatsApp in Android is compatible with YouTube and Instagram videos, but it is expected that when the feature is released it will be compatible with other video services.

The WhatsApp PiP for Android, is not yet available, for development reasons. That is why despite having installed the latest version of the beta in the Android operating system users cannot yet activate it because the function still needs a few last adjustments so that its operation does not hinder the user experience.

Now we just have to wait for this tool to be enabled in the Android beta to be closer to its landing in the final version of the app available to everyone in the Google Play Store.
