The emerging Chinese brand has recently launched its first premium flagship phone, Oppo Find X. Oppo took a leap ahead in innovation with this phone and introduced a unique motorized camera solution which pops out of the phone’s body every time you want to use the camera.
With the Oppo Find X, the company is exploring new pathways as it is the first phone from Chinese brand which will officially be sold in Europe. As difficult as it is to produce a unique design in today’s saturated smartphone market, Oppo did the job exceedingly well.
The phone comes as a glass body that encapsulates the metal frame. A periscope camera pops up in just 0.2 seconds whenever you intend to use it. The bezels around the screen are almost non-existent with an industry leading 93.8% screen to body ratio.
The phone launched here in Pakistan and as rosy as it may seem, all this innovation comes with a high price tag. Sitting at Rs. 129,990, Oppo Find X is the most expensive phone after the iPhone X
Should You Buy a Phone This Expensive or Consider Other Options?
Oppo Find X is the closest you can get to bezel-less right now. The phone is undoubtedly a true remark of the amalgamation of art with science. Rest assured, the price of the phone is insanely high which compels one to rethink about his/her choice twice while buying this phone. Let’s see what premium flagships from other brands have to offer and how they stack against the Oppo Find X in terms of price.
Apple iPhone X
iPhone X boasts an A11 Bionic chip from Apple with an integrated neural engine, which the company claims to be the world’s fastest chip. Having pioneered in such innovative technologies, iPhone X price varies between Rs. 139,200 to Rs. 159, 800 in Pakistan.
The latest flagship from the California based giant doesn’t need any introduction. Apple, also being the top phone manufacturer in the world, has always been a trendsetter in the industry with its top-tier flagships.
Besides the most advanced specs and immaculate performance, it’s the brand recognition that matters. Apple has earned the place where its logo is enough to denote trust and quality.
The most recent trend it introduced to the industry is the notch in the display. The phone is radically redesigned with an all screen display pushing the bezels to a minimum. iPhone X also hosts the world’s 1st 3D facial recognition feature. Face ID is enabled by the TrueDepth camera and it projects and analyzes more than 30,000 invisible dots to create a precise depth map of your face.
Samsung Galaxy S9+
The latest offering from the Korean brand costs lower than the Oppo Find X at Rs. 122,000 and beefed up with all the latest specs and features, it results in a seamless Android experience.
Samsung Galaxy S9+ has been the best selling android phone of May 2018 and the company enjoys Android domination but it was not always like this.
In 1995, at the Yard of Samsung Gumi Factory, Samsung’s phones, TVs, and other hardware was stacked, their screens were broken and $50 Million worth of gear was lit on fire on a single day. Why? because the products were of sub-par quality and unable to justify the money consumers spent on them. From those ashes, Samsung emerged as a different company with its “Quality First” Slogan.
Fast forward to 2010 and the Galaxy S series was born. Even then HTC was the archrival of Samsung and according to a Counterpoint research, HTC held a whopping 10% of global market share. The company worked hard to make its place in the market and enjoys the top spot in the Android world as of now.
Besides the famous Super AMOLED infinity display and a powerful processor, the S9+ is the first phone to feature a variable aperture which helps in taking photos like never before. The phone also features an exceptional low-light photography experience.
Huawei P20 Pro
Huawei P20 Pro costs way less than Oppo Find X. The phone is priced at Rs. 100,000 with some serious innovations in design and specs.
Nowadays it’s getting awfully hard to produce an innovative technology that really has an impact on the utility and user experience of the smartphone but the Chinese mammoth doesn’t seem to be bothered by that. It always seems to march forward with its unorthodox thinking, ultimately producing better smartphones.
Earlier in 2017, Huawei introduced the world’s First processor with Neural Processing Unit (NPU) in Huawei Mate 10. This year Huawei is back with a bang and introduced the world’s first smartphone with a triple rear camera and that too with Leica branding.
That’s not all. Huawei introduced the P20 Pro with the unique Twilight color, which goes from purple to green. The phone packs the same AI enabled Kirin 970 and draws its juice from a massive 4,000 mAh battery.
However, things were not always rosy for Huawei. Until 2014, nobody wanted to buy a Huawei phone beyond Rs. 25000 but today they have convinced the world quite dramatically. Being a Chinese brand, people were less inclined to trust Huawei’s phones which took the company almost a decade to build up its brand recognition and trust among the users buy infiltrating the budget and midrange smartphone segments first.
Only after that company was able to release a flagship of such grandeur. No doubt they have put their back into achieving the place they enjoy now.
What Do You Think Now?
Up till now, Oppo was playing in the budget and midrange category. This is the first flagship of the company and undoubtedly costs a fortune. Even the Oppo fans have mixed opinion about the phone’s price. Some call it justified while others are not so much in its favor.
