On the launch of four new smartphones from Xcell mobiles the CEO of the company, Mr. Asif emphasized not only on the good looks of their phones but also the ‘substance’ the company is providing in very economical prices. Time and again he asserted about the good looks as well as the ‘best features’ that the company aims to provide.
However, just a glance on the phones gives away considerable similarities in design with the already existing phones, and we cannot help but notice that Xcell mobile failed to produce something ingenious, instead copied the design elements of various devices in a single one.
Though it’s not a big deal; there are a ton of Chinese knockoffs of iPhone as well as Samsung replicas available in the market but the problem arises when the company claims to have come up with a unique design.
Xcell Nova: A Cheaper Galaxy S9
As we earlier said, the phones from Xcell lack originality. Xcell Nova is the priciest among the company’s lineup at Rs. 26,999. It packs a 6-inch display and looks a spitting image of the Samsung’s flagship, Galaxy S9.
The rear camera and fingerprint scanner are located vertically in the spine of the phone, just like the S9, but unlike Samsung’s beast, it is made of a metal body. Think about Galaxy S9 with bigger bezels; this is what Xcell Nova design is all about.
The device fails to impress in specs arena as well. The specs are also compromised. A screen with just 720 x 1440 pixels resolution and a MediaTek MT6750T processor, both are quite outdated whereas you can get a better resolution and a newer chipset in many of the phones in this price range.
Xcell mobile also claims to have GPU Turbo technology, which, as far as we know, is a patented technology devised by Huawei for its own phones, so we fear that using this name may get Xcell mobile into a lawsuit.
- Display: 6.0 inches
- Screen Resolution: 720 x 1440 pixels
- Processor: MediaTek MT6750T
- RAM: 4GB
- Internal Storage: 64GB
- Rear Camera: 16MP + 3MP with Dual-LED
- Front Camera: 5MP with AF
- Battery: 3600mAh
Here are some of the alternatives with better specs that you can buy in this price bracket.
Xcell View: A Cross between iPhone X and P20 Pro
The second highest priced phone from the company is the Xcell view which you can tell as the amalgamation of iPhone X design into the body of P20 Pro. It copies the gradient color from Huawei too.
Weirdly enough, Xcell View which has a less price tag packs a glass body unlike the metal body of a pricier model. Priced at Rs 21,000 the handset fails to impress on the spec sheet. It packs a MediaTek MT6739 which is an even older chipset.
The 5.85 inches screen has a 720 x 1512 pixel resolution and. Having 3GB RAM with 16 GB memory and an 8MP rear camera with a 5MP front camera seems quite pricey to buy at Rs. 21,000 when other brands are providing better specs in more or less same price.

- Processor: MTK6737
