Xiaomi Mi Max 3

Chinese smartphone maker has finally pulled the wraps off its latest phablet, Xiaomi Mi Max 3 which comes as a successor to the last year’s Mi Max 2 and with an enhanced battery size and a bigger screen, it is the biggest phone of the Max lineup.

The phone remained in the line of rumors for long. Images on Weibo and press renders were also leaked but now that the device is officially unveiled, we can have a detailed look at the specs.

Xiaomi resized and reshaped the screen of the phone to meet the current trends of the industry. It now hosts a 6.9-inch with an 18:9 aspect ratio and 1080 x 2160 resolution which means that the phone boasts more screen and more pixel resolution than its predecessors and thanks to its thin bezels, the phone has a decent screen to body ratio.

The phone borrows a lot of specs from the Redmi Note 5 and retains the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 octa-core chipset clocked at 1.8 GHz. The rear dual camera setup is also the same as Note 5. It boasts a 12MP lens with f/1.9 aperture and dual-pixel phase detection AF, and a secondary 5 MP lens with f/2.0 aperture to collect the depth of field while taking a photo, especially a portrait shot. On the front, an 8MP snapper rests on the top bezel of the phone.

Unlike the company’s Mi 8 series, Mi Max 3 doesn’t seem to be affected by the headphone jack eliminating trend. The phone keeps the 3.5mm jack which should be a refreshing news for music lovers out there.

The phone runs on the Android Oreo, comes with MIUI version 9.5 out of the box and also supports plenty of interesting AI features like scene recognition, better selfies, face unlock and a voice assistant.

The phone hosts a massive 5500mAh battery. its predecessor, Mi Max 2 is known to have longest battery life among Android phones and have always topped the charts for best battery. We do hope that this phone would retain the trend.

Xiaomi Mi Max 3 will come in two variants in terms of memory. 4 GB RAM + 64 GB storage variant is priced at CNY1,699 (Rs. 32,000 Approx) and 6 GB RAM + 128 GB storage variant will sell for CNY1,999 (Rs. 38,000 Approx).
