Xiaomi Redmi 6

When it comes to buying a midrange device, we all want the latest features with the added bonus of an affordable price tag. After the inclusion of many Chinese companies in the Pakistani market, we get to see some real competition in this segment, but the recently launched Xiaomi Redmi 6 knocks out many of these devices.

Xiaomi has released both the 3GB + 32GB and 4GB + 64GB variants of Xiaomi Redmi 6 but here we will be looking at the latter device and will compare its features with other expensive midrange smartphones to see if it really is the device that we have been waiting for:

Let’s have a look at the specifications of Xiaomi Redmi 6:

  • Display: 5.45 inches
  • Screen Resolution: 720 x 1440 pixels
  • Processor: MediaTek MT6762 Helio P22
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Internal Storage: 64GB
  • Rear Camera: Dual 12MP
  • Front Camera: 5MP
  • Battery: 3000mAh
  • OS: Android Oreo
  • Price: Rs. 24,999

Xiaomi Redmi 6 with its 5.45 inches display is neither too big nor too small although if you are not a fan of bezels you might be a bit disappointed. The smartphone has 720 x 1440 pixels screen resolution, truth be told we would have loved to see 1080p resolution, but the price tag justifies this sacrifice.

It has Helio P22 chipset, which is found in many higher-end midrange models, along with a 4GB RAM which definitely makes it a powerful beast. It has a 64GB of internal storage, something that was only left for premium smartphones a year ago.

The dual 12MP rear cameras and 5MP front camera are ample for the photography lovers in this affordable category. The device packs a 3000mAh battery, and the 4GB variant is available in Pakistan for Rs. 24,999, a pretty inexpensive device considering the specs sheet.

Now let’s have a look at some other smartphones that are on the lower end if not failed to satisfy the price and specs equilibrium.

Honor 9 Lite

Honor 9 Lite

Honor 9 Lite has successfully made a place in the list of one of our favorite midrange smartphones of 2018. Just looking at the specs of the device, we can see that Xiaomi Redmi 6 is seemingly in the same league as Honor’s fan favorite device.

Honor 9 Lite is a few inches larger than the Xiaomi Redmi 6 and offers better screen resolution, but when it comes to RAM and internal storage, in the case of 4GB variant, latter takes the lead.

Both devices are powered by strong processors and good cameras (based on specs and not real-life testing). The Honor 9 lite is a bit pricey as compared to the Xiaomi Redmi 6 so if you want to save cost, you can try the new Redmi smartphone.

Here’s the summary of the Honor 9 Lite’s specs

  • Display: 5.65 inches
  • Screen Resolution: 1080×2160 pixels

The 4GB variant of Oppo A83 (2018) first came to Pakistan in May this year and offered the same RAM and internal storage as the Xiaomi Redmi 6, but the latter offers dual rear cameras, the latest chipset, and OS in a far more affordable price.

The two obviously differ in their design, but if Oppo planned to keep the price high, they should have at least tried to make it worth our while as Honor did.

Here’s the summary of Oppo A83’s specs:

  • Display: 5.7 inches
  • Screen Resolution: 720 x 1440 pixels
  • Processor: MediaTek MT6763T Helio P23
